Turning a low-res photo into HD used to mean cropping your ambitions to match the file you had. A small phone photo, a screenshot, or an old web image stayed small and soft forever. The upscaler goes up to 4× and stops at 8000 pixels on the longest side, but the honest answer to "how big can I make this" depends on where you start. A sharp 1500-pixel photo has real detail to multiply, so 4× gives you a clean 6000-pixel image that prints or crops beautifully. A tiny, already-soft 300-pixel thumbnail has far less to work with: 4× still makes it much bigger and noticeably cleaner, but it can't manufacture detail that was never there, so a postage stamp won't become a sharp poster. The rule of thumb: the larger and sharper your starting image, the further you can push it. For printing, aim for roughly 300 pixels per inch of final size, so a 4000-pixel result covers a crisp print about 13 inches (33 cm) on its long edge.

If a photo needs more than one treatment — say it's faded, soft and small — enlarge last. Upscaling first means every later pass has to work through four times as many pixels for no extra quality, and worse, it bakes the enlargement's guesses in before the detail work happens: the restore pass then sharpens invented texture rather than the photograph.
The order that works is restore → faces → colour → enlarge. And keep the original file: each pass starts from what you upload, so the untouched version is the one you want on your own disk when a result isn't right.
